Westlaw UK now includes the Index of Legal Terms as part of the University’s subscription.
Westlaw has produced a video and a factsheet which explains how to use the feature.

This service allows you to search a number of key legal dictionaries.
These dictionaries include:
- Jowitt’s Dictionary of English Law
- Stroud’s Judicial Dictionary of Words and Phrases
- Osborn’s Concise Law Dictionary
As well as the option to search the dictionaries, the Index of Legal Terms can bring back definitions from cases, legislation or journals. This helps to find a citeable authority.
Intelligent Search
Index of Legal Terms offers additional functionality, including a list of suggested terms, which appear in a dropdown box as you type your word or phrase as well as related search suggestions, which offer links to other avenues of research which might be useful to you.
