Rules Governing the Use of SASN Virtual Networks

This Virtual Network (VN) is designed as a means for those working in the field of ASC to share information with other users. We kindly ask for your help in making our VN a safe and pleasant environment for everyone using it. The VN will be moderated and maintained by SASN and all users must agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. SASN reserve the right to revoke the membership of any users contravening the terms and conditions listed below.
     
  2. Users must be aged 18 or above.
     
  3. Users will agree that SASN have the right to edit, remove or close any topic as they wish.
     
  4. Users must agree to protect their own and others privacy. Please do not post private telephone numbers or addresses. Asking or answering questions of a personal or private nature or making posts which invade another persons privacy are not appropriate.
     
  5. Lewd/pornographic material is expressly forbidden; use of such material will lead to users being permanently banned from the site and appropriate authorities will be notified.
     
  6. No insulting, abusive, obscene or vulgar language will be permitted (eg, no swear words, lewd concepts, derogatory/defamatory language regarding others’ etc).  Usernames must not contain anything that constitutes such language.  
     
  7. Discussing individual case work or the performance of staff is not permitted.  Names of students, service users, parents or carers should never be used nor should details of specific situations that could be used to identify an individual or parent.  
     
  8. Anyone instigating or carrying out a personal attack against another member or any other person or organisation will be permanently banned from the site and have their membership removed.  Personal attacks include slanderous, hateful, harassing and threatening language and purposefully derogatory information aimed at or about another person.  SASN have the right to decide what is classed as a personal attack and take appropriate action.
     
  9. SASN have the right to remove any posts that could be considered libellous material.
     
  10. Users will not use the VN to carry out any activity that would constitute a criminal offence or encourage conduct that would constitute a criminal offence.
     
  11. It is forbidden to falsely impersonate another person or to falsely claim to represent a person or  organisation. 
     
  12. The VN is unable to support any lobbying, political or otherwise, and site moderators will take  action  against anyone using the site for the purposes of lobbying. 
     
  13. Users will agree not to post any material that constitutes chain letters, spam or junk mail and/or  unauthorised advertising.  If you wish to advertise an event or service you should contact SASN directly to seek permission.
     
  14. You will agree not post any copyrighted material that is not owned by yourself or the owners of  these forums without author/owners consent.
     
  15. SASN will attempt to remove or edit any objectionable material as quickly as possible, but it is not possible to check every message. Therefore members must understand that all posts made to the SASN Virtual Networks express the views and opinions of those who have written the specific post and not the Scottish Autism Network and thus SASN cannot be liable for any such posts. 
     
  16. Personal opinions expressed within the VN’s are those of the users and do not necessarily represent the views of SASN.  SASN cannot be held responsible for the content or accuracy of any messages.
     
  17. Users remain solely responsible for the content of their messages.
     
  18. VN members/users will agree that SASN has the right to store information they have provided in a relevant database. Whilst all care possible is taken with this information and it will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent SASN cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
